Peanuts and Ant-Man

I've had the pleasure to assist Tim Davies' orchestrations on a number of Christophe Beck's scores, but 2015 was the first time I really got to heavily contribute. On The Peanuts Movie, orchestration was divided between lead orchestrator Tim Davies, Kevin Kliesch, and myself. It was a really fun project, as I've always been a huge fan of Vince Guaraldi. Little known fact, Guaraldi played piano on one of Frank Rosolino's early jazz records (if you know me, Rosolino was a HUGE influence on my trombone playing).

Chris Beck's score was a great take on the series, incorporating a lot of the jazz harmonies and rhythms, but putting it through the viewpoint of a modern film score. Not an easy task!

I'm still not sure how we got anything done with Snoopy at the helm!

A little earlier in the year, I got to write a few orchestrations for Chris Beck's other big movie, Ant-Man. I really enjoyed Chris's take on the action hero score. He wrote a really fun theme in 7/4 for this movie. We got to bring this music back out for a Super Bowl ad for Coke a few weeks ago.
